Nashik Station to Undergo Major Infra Overhaul Ahead of Kumbh

The Central Railway's Bhusawal Division has unveiled plans to upgrade railway infrastructure near Nashik Road station, with the station's redevelopment still pending approval. Divisional Railway Manager Iti Pandey announced that a pit line, essential for maintaining coaches, will be constructed at Deolali Railway station, approximately five kilometres from Nashik Road towards Mumbai. This new pit line will enable the inspection of rakes, including both goods and passenger coaches.

The development is part of a broader infrastructure improvement plan around Nashik Road, aimed at preparations for the Simhastha Kumbhmela, which will take place in Nashik between 2026 and 2028. A similar pit line was recently completed in Manmad to support the inspection and maintenance of trains, including those used for the Kisan Special originating from Nashik Road.

Currently, three trains operate from Nashik Road: the Kisan Special, the Nashik-Badnera MEMU (shuttle), and the Deolali-Bhusawal MEMU. The new pit line will support crucial functions such as washing, watering, and routine maintenance for these rakes.

Plans are also underway to build two new lines at Nashik Road station to facilitate the parking of train rakes. "These are regular infrastructure upgrades that will be carried out in the near future," stated a senior railway official.
