Projects worth Rs 400 bn to be launched in Assam in the next 2 months

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially opened and laid the cornerstones for 12 projects in the Nalbari district as part of the Assam government's initiative to launch a slew of development projects. The projects' goal is to make the historic district one of the most forward-thinking in the State on all fronts.

Sarma announced at a programme that over Rs 400 billion worth of projects would be either inaugurated or launched in a number of districts over the coming few months.

A senior government official said that the total costs of the 12 projects launched come to approximately Rs 6.80 billion. Among the projects inaugurated are the district Sports Stadium Complex at Sariahtoli to be executed at a cost of Rs 510 million, beautification works of Nalbari town at a cost of Rs 1.06 billion, the integrated Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex at an approximate cost of Rs 500 million, upgradation of Government Polytechnic Institute and Industrial Training Institute at a cost of Rs 50 million, a science centre and planetarium with the first-ever 3D projection system in the state, to name a few.

Additionally, a number of road development projects totalling almost Rs 2 billion were launched. According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives have the potential to drastically change Nalbari district and make it one of the most progressive districts in the future on numerous fronts. He made an appeal to the district's residents for their support and cooperation in the government's effort to improve their socio-economic and educational conditions.
