Pune Metro's New Milestone

Alstom, a global leader in rail transport, has delivered the first Made-in-India Metropolis metro train for Pune Metro Line 3. This milestone marks a significant advancement in India's urban transportation, emphasizing the Make in India initiative.

The Metropolis trains, built at Alstom's Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh, are designed to enhance passenger comfort with modern amenities like CCTV surveillance, spacious seating, and advanced passenger information systems. Each train can accommodate up to 970 passengers, ensuring efficient transit for Pune's growing population.

Pune Metro Line 3, stretching over 23 km, will connect Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, alleviating traffic congestion and promoting sustainable urban mobility. The project is a public-private partnership between the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and Tata-Siemens.

This delivery signifies a pivotal step in India's journey towards self-reliance in metro rail manufacturing, reducing dependence on imports. Alstom's role underscores the importance of integrating global technology with local manufacturing capabilities.
