Pune-Nashik high-speed rail project hampered

The work of the Pune-Nashik high-speed rail project in Khed taluka has been thwarted by the Defense Department citing that it passes through an army area.

The district administration has changed the route and the revised route plan has been submitted to the railway administration.

Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation said that it is proposed to pass through Pune, Nagar and Nashik districts. It includes a total of 54 villages in four talukas namely Haveli, Khed, Ambegaon and Junnar in the Pune district.

Among the major stations, Chakan, Manchar and Narayangaon, stations will be agricultural produce and private freight terminals and Rajgurunagar station will be for passenger traffic only.
