Telangana Eyes Rail Boost for $1 Trillion Goal

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasized the state's commitment to contributing $1 trillion to India's $5 trillion economic vision, contingent on robust railway infrastructure development. Speaking virtually at the inauguration of the modernized Cherlapally terminal, the CM called for central government support for key rail projects, including the second phase of Hyderabad Metro and the early execution of the Vikarabad-Krishna rail line via Kodangal.
Highlighting Telangana's land-locked nature, Reddy proposed a dedicated rail line between Secunderabad and Machilipatnam port in Andhra Pradesh and the establishment of a dry port facility within the state. "Railway infrastructure is pivotal for India's progress, and states like Telangana rely heavily on it for growth," Reddy noted.
The CM also urged the Centre to develop a Regional Ring Rail alongside the planned 370 km Regional Ring Road (RRR). He further requested aid for new rail links, including Kalwakurthy-Macherla and two lines originating from Dornakal.
Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna, attending the event, highlighted technological advancements in Indian Railways that enhance safety and modernization. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma echoed the sentiment, citing the transformative impact of initiatives like the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme,' which aims to revamp 40 stations across Telangana.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy stated that the Cherlapally railway station would boost connectivity on Hyderabad's outskirts and facilitate the movement of goods. Additionally, plans for MMTS connectivity to Yadadri and a new station at Komuravelli pilgrim center are underway.
