Titagarh Rail Systems wins Rs 3.5 bn contract for Ahmedabad Metro

Titagarh Rail Systems (TRL) declared its receipt of a letter of acceptance (LoA) from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) for a contract valued at Rs 3.5 billion. The contract entails the design, production, supply, testing, commissioning, and training of 30 standard gauge cars for the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II project.

An official source disclosed that the standard gauge cars are intended for integration into the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II initiative. According to Prithish Chowdhary, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Titagarh Rail Systems, the prototype Metro car's completion is scheduled within 70 weeks, while the entire project is due for completion within 94 weeks. Manufacturing of the cars will take place at the Uttarpara plant, situated in the Hooghly district.

Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) is overseeing the implementation of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Phase-II endeavour, which carries a budget of Rs 135 billion. This undertaking aims to extend the city's existing metro network by adding 28.2 km of new Metro lines.

Previously, the Kolkata-based company had secured another contract from GMRC to deliver 24 Metro trains for Phase-I of the Surat Metro project, valued at approximately Rs 8.5 billion.

Furthermore, Titagarh Rail Systems (TRL) maintains its involvement in multiple other Metro rail ventures across the nation.
