Union minister Darshana Jardosh told the media that the railway line in Jammu and Kashmir, Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, will be a game-changer for the union territory. Kashmir has a challenging terrain due to its topography, but the railway department is equipped with the latest technologies and a commendable workforce, she said. The project is challenging on mountainous routes. Many tunnels and bridges will have to be constructed to complete the project. The Minister reviewed the work progress, and it has been going at a fast pace. Jardosh said that the project provided jobs to the people who have a land loss of 75% or above, and most of the compensation cases have been completed. The railways aim to develop every state, and Kashmir stands high on the agenda of the centre. Earlier, she visited the Banihal Railway Station and took stock of operations there.
