Work begins on 7 new ROBs across Bihar

Seven Rail Over Bridges (ROBs) announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his Pragati Yatra are now set to take off, with administrative approval already granted by the Road Construction Department. Cost-sharing agreements for five of these ROBs have also been finalised between the Bihar government and Indian Railways.

In the Gorakhpur Railway Division, an ROB will come up on NH-89 between Siwan Yard and Panchrukhi station. The project is pegged at Rs 921.6 million, with both the state and Railways contributing about Rs 460.8 million each.

Two ROBs are lined up under the Sonpur Division. One will be built between Turki and Ramdayalu Nagar on the Muzaffarpur鈥揌ajipur route at a cost of Rs 2.48 billion鈥擱s 2.03 billion from the state and Rs 440 million from the Railways. The second will connect Muzaffarpur and Ramdayalu Nagar on the Madipur鈥揇umri line, with a budget of Rs 1.67 billion.

The Samastipur Division will also see two ROBs. One will be constructed between Khajauli and Jaynagar stations on NH-527B with a cost of Rs 1.78 billion, while another will be developed between Budhma and Murliganj stations on NH-91 for Rs 1.92 billion.

In the Katihar Division, two more ROBs are in the pipeline. One will be built on NH-57A between Forbesganj and Bathnaha at a cost of Rs 1.15 billion, of which Rs 809.8 million will come from the state. Another ROB between Katihar and Jogbani on NH-131A and NH-31 has also received clearance, with a sanctioned budget of Rs 1.93 billion.
