Thiruvananthapuram gets its first smart anganwadi at Poojappura

On Wednesday, the minister for health, women, and child development Veena George inaugurated the state's first smart anganwadi built at Rs 40 lakh at Thiruvananthapuram's Poojappura.

The anganwadi is developed in such a way to improve the mental, physical, and social development of the children. It has colourful flowers and butterflies that replenish the garden and brightly coloured furniture with attractive images that form a child-friendly environment. The two-storey building includes a study room, kitchen, storeroom, lounge, dining, indoor and outdoor play space with artificial grass, toys, a garden, and a hall.

The minister told the media that the anganwadis in the state will be able to have their building before 2023 end. Out of 33,115 anganwadis, 6,498 are working at rented properties.

She told the media that the government aims to construct 155 smart anganwadis in the state promptly, within six months. As part of executing gender-neutral education, the curriculum has been revised, and measures have been taken to provide gender equality.

She said that the approval for constructing 155 smart anganwadis has been provided, and the construction works are in progress at various stages. Each anganwadi will have different structures as they are developed on 10, 7, and 5 cents due to space restrictions.

The minister said that revolutionary modifications were made, in the public education field by getting academic facilities and adequate infrastructures.

Measures have been taken to make sure that all the anganwadis have appropriate electrification facilities.
