Officials urged to expedite the Smart City project in Jalandhar

The administration and Municipal Corporation (MC) officials in Jalandhar were instructed by Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the Union Minister of State for Rural Development, to get the Smart City initiative on track soon.

The Union Minister's three-day whirlwind journey came to an end after she paid visits to the Bhargo Camp area, Shivani Park, and the twin temples in Jalandhar. She also vowed to look into the inconsistencies alleged in the Jalandhar Smart City project.

During her stay in the city, she also paid a visit to the Smart City project sites and met with party cadres, employees, industrialists, administration, and MC authorities. She discussed the Smart City and other projects in a meeting with district administrators and authorities. The minister frequently questioned how the money was being used while she was there.

The minister also paid visits to the locations of the surface water project and the storm water sewerage project. The minister left with a warning that all aspects of the project would be thoroughly reviewed during her upcoming visit and officials found guilty in the execution of works would be punished after becoming irate that none of the company officials who oversee the Smart City project showed up for the meeting.
