Shillong Smart City: Meghalaya's CM reviews projects status

On February 7, Meghalaya's chief minister, Conrad Sangma, reviewed the status of various projects under the Shillong Smart City project.
Sangma told reporters that the purpose was to see the current status of the work that is going on, and he was happy to see the progress.
Sangma informed that over Rs 500 crore worth of work is currently underway, with close to 25 projects in the pipeline.
In the coming days, another 15 to 20 projects worth around Rs 250 crore will be taken up.
The chief minister stated that work on the Shillong Smart City projects is progressing as planned and that some of them will be completed and inaugurated within the next financial year.
A total of 34 projects will be initiated at a cost of Rs 1040 crore, Sangma had previously tweeted. It is encouraging to see a few projects already in the works.
Shillong, also known as the Scotland of the East, is a lovely hill town and the capital of the state of Meghalaya. It is one of the 100 cities identified by the Indian government as candidates for Smart City development. A city with a strong traditional culture, as well as a centre for knowledge, health, trading or business, and tourism services, it aspires to be the epicentre of cultural and economic vibrancy, with which Meghalayans proudly identify.
Shillong Smart City Limited (SSCL) was incorporated on the 22nd of January, 2019 as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Companies Act, 2013.
