Srinagar smart city projects inaugurated by Lt. Governor Sinha

Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha officially inaugurated three Srinagar Smart City Projects and 25 Urban Local Bodies (ULB) projects.

Among the Smart City Projects, Polo View has been transformed into a Pedestrian-Oriented Shopping Street, the Abi Guzar Shiv temple has undergone renovation and has been dedicated to the public, and Smart Advanced Traffic Management vehicles have been added to the Srinagar Smart City fleet.

Regarding the Urban Local Bodies projects, a total of 16 development projects have been dedicated to the public in 11 ULBs, along with 9 Solid Waste Management facilities in 10 ULBs.

During the event, the Lieutenant Governor expressed that these projects would significantly enhance urban infrastructure and contribute to an improved quality of life.

"The transformation of Polo View, situated in the heart of Srinagar, into a vibrant pedestrian-oriented high street will attract more visitors, increase retail sales, enhance visitor experience, and make the area more livable," stated the Lieutenant Governor.

He further shared the city's efforts to develop similar markets in areas like Residency Road, Lal Chowk, and the old city, aligning with the goal of creating facilities on par with other major cities in the country.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that the holistic approach towards urban infrastructure development focuses on individual well-being, creating new opportunities for diversified income, improving service delivery, mobility, cleanliness, and achieving sustainable urban development objectives.

Acknowledging the aspirations of all 40 ULBs in Kashmir Division, the Lieutenant Governor emphasised the priority given to the people and their improved quality of life through the development and solid waste management projects.

"These newly inaugurated projects are a testament to our commitment to enhance the urban environment," he added.

Reflecting on the development journey of Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, the Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the unprecedented growth of the Union Territory. He highlighted the accelerated pace of project completion and the empowerment felt by every section of society.

He also stressed the importance of involving citizens in policymaking to ensure that infrastructure projects align with their needs. The Lieutenant Governor called upon elected representatives of ULBs and the general public to collaborate with the administration in rejuvenating cities and making them vibrant, efficient, clean, and sustainable.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for infrastructure to serve as a solid foundation for improving the quality of life for all citizens. He urged that infrastructure development should meet the demands of the 21st century while preserving the priceless heritage and traditions of the cities.

Encouraging maximum public participation in beautification initiatives and cleanliness campaigns, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with shopkeepers at Polo View and presented a token of appreciation to the Traders Association for their cooperation.
