The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) has approved a detailed project report for a 3-km railway approach line that connects the New Dadri Dedicated Freight Corridor station to the upcoming multimodal logistics hub of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. It was stated that the rail project, which costs Rs 8.58 billion and falls within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor framework, aims to establish a multimodal logistics hub in Dadri. The purpose is to facilitate the smooth movement of goods and raw materials from Greater Noida to Gujarat, Kolkata, and Mumbai within 24 hours. Currently, without such connectivity, it takes 4-5 days to ship the cargo.
DFCCIL, the organisation responsible for developing the track, plans to initiate the contractor selection process by issuing a tender. The multimodal logistic hub, located on 823 acres of land in Dadri, is proposed to be a state-of-the-art freight handling unit. The logistics hub will cost approximately Rs 70.34 billion and will include advanced warehouses, custom clearance points, rail platforms, cold storage facilities, truck parking bays, and cargo separation areas. Additionally, it will have a rail yard with 16 platforms to facilitate the efficient uploading and offloading of goods into freight trains by industries.
The Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida, in collaboration with DMIC, is currently in the process of hiring a project consultant to oversee the preparation of the tender and monitor the construction. Ritu Maheshwari, CEO, Greater Noida and the Managing Director of DMIC-IITGNL, stated that the land acquisition for the logistics hub project is nearly complete.
As part of the project, a multimodal transport hub (MMTH) will also be established near Boraki. The process of selecting a consultant for the project has been initiated. The transport hub will integrate railway, bus stand, and metro connectivity.
The Greater Noida railway terminal in Boraki, situated on the Delhi-Howrah railway line, is expected to relieve pressure on existing terminals in Delhi. It will primarily cater to eastbound trains heading towards eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and other states.
