Awareness campaign on SWM conducted by IMC for clean & green Itanagar

The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) held its Solid Waste Management (SWM) awareness campaign for a clean and green Itanagar in the Mithun Gate and Bank Tinali areas of the city. In a speech during the event, Mayor Tamme Phassang explained that the programme had been planned in accordance with court orders to raise public awareness of cleanliness and a healthy environment. Even with this knowledge, the court has also instructed the IMC to punish defaulters who leave trash in public areas.

According to Tamme, even the IMC will find it challenging to maintain cleanliness until we all recognise that it is our obligation and responsibility to keep our wards, colonies, and Itanagar clean. Even though this awareness campaign is little, it sends a loud and clear message: we must all work together to create a clean, green, and tranquil Itanagar. He further explained that by starting the "Swatch Bharat Abhiyan," even Prime Minister Narendra Modi had pushed for cleanliness. Tamme Phassang stated that we should be aware of how the rubbish we produce affects us, our environment, and our health.
