The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recorded over 1.30 billion Aadhaar Face Authentication transactions, with 78% of them occurring in FY 2024-25 alone. The AI and machine learning-based in-house face authentication solution, introduced in October 2022, has rapidly transformed biometric verification and service delivery across India. 

In FY 2024-25, 1.02 billion transactions were conducted, reflecting growing adoption. The past three months (January-March) alone saw 395 million transactions, with March 2025 recording over 152.5 million transactions鈥攁 21.6% increase over February. This surge highlights the trust and reliability of face authentication across sectors like fintech, finance, and telecommunications. 

The contactless and secure authentication method is being widely used in government schemes such as PM Awas (Urban), PM E-Drive, PM-JAY, PM Ujjwala, PM Kisan, and PM Internship, ensuring seamless benefit delivery. It also serves as a robust alternative for senior citizens and individuals with fingerprint quality issues due to manual labor or health conditions. 

Currently, 102 government and private entities have adopted Aadhaar face authentication. The AI-driven technology, compatible with both Android and iOS, offers protection against video replay attacks and static photo fraud, making it a secure, efficient, and accessible biometric verification solution.
