Bihar Approves Rs 330 Billion Road Upgrade Plan for FY26

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved Bihar’s Rs 330 Bn road development plan for financial year twenty twenty-six. The announcement was made by Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, outlining projects aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic growth.

Detailed Project Reports have been prepared for works worth Rs 180 to 190 Bn, with construction expected to begin before 15 August upon central approval. Around Rs 199.81 Bn will be spent to upgrade five hundred and twenty-six kilometres of roads to two-lane and four-lane highways.

Eight major roads have been approved, including stretches from Dhaka Mor to Beljhar, Arwal to Bihar Sharif, and Bettiah to Baghaha. Additionally, seven new bypasses totalling seventy-four kilometres will be built at a cost of Rs 60.4 Bn. Another Rs 15.97 Bn is allocated for constructing two hundred and twenty-seven kilometres of new roads.
A four-lane elevated corridor from Anisabad to AIIMS Patna, spanning ten kilometres and costing Rs 13.08 Bn, has also been cleared.

Bridge construction will receive Rs 37.58 Bn, including Rs 20.85 Bn for nineteen railway overbridges under Setu Bharatam. Rural projects worth Rs 170 Bn will cover over nineteen thousand kilometres across eleven thousand roads.
