National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is providing technical and financial help to Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) to restart mining activities in Odisha.
Mines at the Mithirda block of NINL's iron ore mine started operations today in the presence of NMDC's Sumit Deb, as well as NINL's RK Jha, as MD.
According to the Ministry of Steel, Ministry of Commerce, and DIPAM, NINL sought assistance from National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).
To support NINL, NMDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NINL.
An integrated steel plant capable of producing 1.1 million tonnes of steel per year has been built by NINL, a Joint Venture (JV) between MMTC, IPICOL, OMC, and others in Odisha.
To produce iron ore in-house, the business purchased a mining lease for the purpose in January 2017. NINL was granted authorization to sell iron ore at a rate of one million tonnes (mt) per year for two years to increase iron ore production in the state and pay for business expenditures.
Sumit Deb told the media that mined iron ore will not only relieve the mineral shortage in the State but will also go a long way to alleviating NINL's financial problems. NMDC gives its full support to the NINL in their new endeavour.
National Mineral Development Corporation, produces minerals for the government. As a government-owned company, it falls under India's Ministry of Steel's administrative supervision.
It is India's largest iron ore producer and exporter, with three automated mines in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka generating more than 35 million tonnes (mt) of iron ore. Panna, in Madhya Pradesh, is home to the country's only automated diamond mine.
