Telangana post offices to shift to solar power by 2023

According to officials, solar power will be implemented in more than 6,000 post offices in Telangana in a phased manner. The postal department aims to run all the Telangana post offices on solar power by the end of 2023.

The post offices in Telangana that have been renovated with the latest technology are adopting other sources of energy to ensure uninterrupted services to the customers in Telangana.

The headquarters of Telangana Postal Circle, Dak Sadan at Abids, is currently running on a 50 kW solar power capacity. Other buildings having solar power include the Hyderabad GPO building with 50 kW power capacity and the Secunderabad HPO building with 30 kW power capacity.

The Charminar Post Office with 8.75 kW power capacity and the Medak post office with 8 kW power capacity are now ready to be operated on solar power. A professional team of Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) will overview the building and then provide a feasibility report to install photovoltaic solar panels, an assistant electrical engineer told the media.
