MEIL Wins Rs 128B Contract for Two Nuclear Reactors in Karnataka

Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) has secured a Rs 128 billion EPC contract from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) to construct two 700 MW nuclear reactors鈥擪aiga units 5 and 6鈥攊n Karnataka. This marks MEIL's entry into the nuclear energy sector.

The Hyderabad-based company won the contract using the Quality-cum-Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) method, competing with industry giants like BHEL and L&T. MEIL's technical expertise and competitive pricing led to its selection.

This deal comes as the Indian government aims to increase nuclear power capacity, targeting 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, with a goal to triple nuclear capacity by 2032. Currently, India has an installed nuclear capacity of 8.18 GW, with an additional 14.3 GW in various stages of development.

HCL-Foxconn to invest Rs 37 billion in chip plant near Jewar airport

The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new semiconductor unit near Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh under the India Semiconductor Mission.
