Mercom India reveals India鈥檚 solar market leaders in first half of FY22

The leaders of the Indian solar industry market in the first half of FY22, have been revealed by Mercom India Research.

It comprises significant players鈥� market shares and shipment rankings across the Indian solar supply chain in 1H 2021.

India has set up approximately 4.6 GW of solar capacity in the first half of 2021, a 251% increase against 1.2 GW added in the corresponding time last year. The nation has a robust pipeline of utility-scale solar plants with 52.8 GW capacity at the end of the first half of 2021, with auctions pending for another 27.8 GW of capacity.

In 1H 2021, large-scale solar, with 3.7 GW capacity, denoted 81% of overall solar establishments. Solar estimated 53% of new power capacity additions in 1H 2021, the largest ever for any year.

As per the report, the top 10 large-scale solar developers accumulated 67% of the total market share in 1H 2021. The Adani Group led utility-scale project establishments, with its portfolio doubling after procuring four operational and under-development assets.

Among utility-scale solar Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) service providers, Mahindra Susten bagged the first position in 1H 2021, followed by Vikram Solar and Belectric.

India established 862 MW of rooftop solar capacity in 1H 2021. Establishments in 1H had already exceeded the total rooftop solar capacity of 719 MW set up in all of 2020 when the Covid-19 lockdown took its toll.

The first ten rooftop solar installers represented 34% of the total rooftop solar market share. Tata Power Solar bagged the first rank in 1H 2021, followed by Fourth Partner Energy.

Sungrow was the best solar inverter supplier in 1H 2021. Sineng Electric and TBEA Energy were next. Five inverter suppliers shipped more than 1 GW capacity to India during the time.

The best ten solar module suppliers accounted for 77% of the total market share in 1H 2021. LONGi was the preeminent module supplier.

The market is steadily moving towards mono technology. But, polycrystalline solar modules still own a majority share of the establishments.

In the first half of 2021 and cumulatively, Purshotam Profiles was the best supplier of solar mounting structures. Other leading suppliers of mounting structures incorporated ISKCON Industries, Strolar, SNS Corporation, and Ganges Internationale.

The top five open access solar developers represented 66% of the overall market share. CleanMax Solar topped in terms of establishments.

Sol-Bright was the best supplier of solar robotic cleaning systems in the first half of 2021.
