REC Power floats tenders to build ISTS network to evacuate 18 GW RE

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has floated four global tenders to develop interstate transmission systems (ISTS) on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis at Khavda pooling station under Phase II- (Part A-D) in Gujarat. The transmission network is to evacuate 18 GW of renewable energy.

A fifth tender has been issued to expand the transmission network in Gujarat with the renewable energy projects integration at a potential renewable energy zone in Khavda.

The last date for online bid submission for all the tenders is July 8, 2022. Online bids will be opened on the same day for all projects.

The program includes Khavda Pooling Station 2 鈥 Lakadia 鈥 Ahmedabad 鈥 South Gujarat/Navsari (New) 765 kV D/c corridor. A 3x1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Ahmedabad substation will be developed along with the Line In Line Out (LILO) of Pirana (PG) 鈥 Pirana (T) 400 kV D/c line at Ahmedabad substation and reconductoring of Pirana (PG) at Pirana (T) line. The projects must be finished within 24 months.

The transmission service provider will assure that the design, construction, and testing of all equipment, components, facilities, and systems of the project align with the transmission service agreement and guidelines provisions issued by the centre.

The transmission service provider should ensure the transfer of all project assets, right of way, substation land, and clearances to the central transmission utility (CTU) after 35 years from the commercial operation date of the project. The transfer should be finished within 90 days after 35 years from the project鈥檚 commercial operation date, failing which CTU will be permitted to take over the project assets.

In February this year, RECPDCL issued global tenders to install two ISTS projects on a BOOT base to evacuate 21.5 GW of renewable energy.

Earlier, RECPDCL had floated two tenders to install transmission systems for renewable power evacuation in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh district and Karnataka's Gadag district.
