Beyond Design Architects & Consultants outlines a collaborative workspace for HERE Technologies.Here鈥檚 a secret. You may know how to drive a car. But you may not know that a part of the vehicle鈥檚 GPS owes its functionality to HERE Technologies products. The Amsterdam-based HERE Technologies is an MNC whose mapping solutions guide drivers in over 100 million vehicles in 100+ countries. The company recently set up its second facility in Goregoan, Mumbai, exclusively for Research and Development (R&D). The single line brief to Beyond Design Architects & Consultants was to build a work environment that facilitated collaboration among its bright employees, many of whom are Millennials and GenXers. Balancing collaboration and privacyR&D, by its very nature, is an activity that is intensely private and intensely collaborative at the same time. This unique paradox set the interior design tone at the new facility. The theme centred around creating private and collaborative spaces that allowed unhindered individual work, and at the same time, quick access to collaborative areas for brainstorming with colleagues. As a creative concept, this theme sounds interesting. But the design team鈥檚 challenge was in bringing disparate form and function elements together, holistically. Carpet as a design maker The design team placed crucial emphasis on flooring as an idea facilitator with each work area having its own distinct look. Shaw Contract carpet tiles lived up to the need by lending functional and aesthetic continuity across the entire three-floored workspace. The team deployed a carpet tiles with multiple colours and hues from the Dyelabs, Nobel Materials, and Color Frame and Color Form collections. They were precisely mixed and matched to suit the need and mood of each individual workspace.  Flooring that inspires a collaborative state of mind Every space, personal or professional, breathes a feeling or a mood. The new HERE facility exudes a feeling of pleasant and productive collaboration; of a day well spent with smart people in a smart environment.
