The urban planning and engineering departments of the Chandigarh Union Territory (UT) administration has approved the proposal to construct 728 houses on 16.6 acres of land of two pockets at IT Park under the general housing scheme at Rs 643 crore. Currently, the UT administration has raised objections against the projects owing to the non-submission of the area. The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has submitted the documents and received the approval. The board received approval related to structure, public health, electrical, town planning and architecture. These cases were assessed by the urban planning and engineering departments. The CHB has shifted the case for a fire no-objection certificate (NOC) to the municipal corporation. According to an official, the approval for the project was crucial as it was pending for many days. The officials have already applied for approval, then the environment and pollution departments are concerned to start the project on the ground. As it is the first major project of CHB, the officials are keeping an eye on everything, so the work can begin after getting all the approvals.
