UPS appoints Ufku Akaltan as President of India, Middle East, Africa

Logistic major United Parcel Service (UPS) has appointed Ufku Akaltan as the President of Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa (ISMEA) following Jean-Francois Condamine's retirement.

A growth-oriented leader, Ufku Akaltan will be responsible for more than 70 nations in the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. Including high-growth markets, the region is a significant part of UPS鈥� international strategy.

The leadership of Ufku will highlight UPS鈥� strategy of being customer first, people-led and innovation-driven. In his new role, Ufku will be liable for driving inclusive growth to assist our customers to tap into growing cross-border opportunities. He will lead the execution of UPS鈥� asset-light strategy to support businesses link seamlessly with their customers around the world via our global smart logistics network.

He will also assist in shaping this large and multi-faceted area鈥檚 thrust on diversity and inclusion. Among his priorities will be contributing toward the Environment and Sustainability Goals of the carbon neutrality of UPS for our global operations by 2050.

Ufku Akalta told the media that he is excited to improve collaboration with small businesses to uplift them via faster and more efficient logistics. The firm will continue to innovate within the healthcare sector and push for greater sustainability and inclusivity across international trade. We also look forward to capitalising on the opportunities produced via our role as the Official Logistics Partner of Expo 2020.

Ufku began his career with UPS in 2001 as an intern while simultaneously working towards achieving his master鈥檚 degree. Following this, Ufku quickly progressed within UPS鈥檚 marketing division, and in 2010, he was designated as Marketing Director for UPS UK, Ireland, and Nordics, and then transferred to Germany as Marketing Director. He later held several leadership positions in the company, including Country Manager for UPS Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg in 2018, President, East Europe district in 2020, and Country Manager for UPS Turkey in 2014.
