Uttar Pradesh govt yet to resolve issues of Sports City flat buyers

Thousands of buyers have been waiting for their flats in various Sports City projects, as the Uttar Pradesh government and the Noida Authority are yet to find a solution to their problems.

A board meeting held on Friday also failed to come up with a plan. In various housing projects planned as part of the sports cities, a total of 32,000 flats had been approved. Only 10,000 apartments have been handed over so far, with the rest in various stages of construction. Over Rs, 4,000 crore is still owed to the Authority by the builders who were given land.

The projects were spread throughout the city, in sectors 78, 79, 101, 150, and 152. A total of 45 projects were planned, with the majority of the development work taking place in sectors 79 and 150.

The deadlines for each of these Sports City projects have been missed.

The Authority formed a committee to investigate viable options and find a solution for homebuyers on 18th January this year. However, no plan has yet been developed.

Sanjeev Mital, the chairman of the Noida Authority and the infrastructure and industrial development commissioner of the state told the media on the sports cities, no decision has been made yet. The Noida Authority's proposals have been assessed. The government has requested some additional information.

Over the last eight months, the Authority and the state government have gone back and forth on the Sports City issue, but no progress has been made.

During the evaluation process, it was discovered that the land offered for the sports cities had been shown in the original master plan as recreational greens.
