Evolving eco-efficiency

KONE offers industry-leading elevator, escalator, and automatic building door solutions that help save energy and costs.
KONE´s volume elevators, launched in 2012, is over 70 per cent more energy efficient than KONE´s previous industry-leading elevator platform from 2008. Already in 2010, KONE reached its ambitious target to cut the energy consumption of its new elevators by 50 per cent. This was achieved by using eco-efficient hoisting systems, regenerative drives, LED lights, and standby solutions.

Furthermore, KONE´s volume elevators received an A-class energy rating according to the VDI 4707 guideline as the first company in the elevator industry.

Eco-efficiency in services
KONE provides services to help its customers achieve their eco-efficiency goals in every phase of their building´s life cycle - from designing and constructing the building to maintaining and modernising it. KONE constantly monitors how its services are produced and delivered, and develops ways of further reducing their environmental impact.

Environment focus in operations
KONE works on improving eco-efficiency in areas such as manufacturing, vehicle fleet, logistics and travel, as well as installation and maintenance in order to improve the eco-efficiency of its own operations. KONE also focuses on improving material efficiency, while minimising waste, water use, and the use of hazardous substances. The same commitment to environmental excellence is also expected from KONE´s partners and suppliers.
