Violation of green norms delay state projects

Industrial projects in Orissa were delayed because of non-compliance of the procedures of the Environmental Impact Assessment Notification 2006 and Circulars of the Ministry. Some of the projects got delayed because of inadequate information on critical environmental parameters, and deficiencies in the Environmental Management Plans by the project proponents.The projects that now face delays are the sponge iron plant, integrated steel plant, Chhuinpalli quartzite mining project, and Nuagaon iron ore beneficiation plant. In the port sector, the development of the All Weather deepwater port and Southern dock complex for the construction of a multi-purpose clear cargo and oil terminal at Paradip port are stranded.

Central Railway Saves Rs 1.71 Billion via HOG Tech in FY25

Central Railway saved Rs 1.71 billion in financial year 2024-25 by adopting Head-On Generation (HOG) technology across its train operations, an official said. Railways Introduces Free Sleeper to Third AC Auto Upgrade Policy

Indian Railways has introduced an auto-upgrade policy allowing confirmed Sleeper Class passengers to be moved to Third AC at no additional cost. The move aims to improve travel comfort and optimise seat occupancy, especially during off-peak periods when higher-class seats remain vacant.The system works during preparation of the first reservation chart, about four hours before departure.
