Ahmedabad civic body's town planning scheme accepted

The town planning scheme 32 at Shahwadi-Behrampur has been accepted by the city civic body's town planning and estate management committee with only a 25% land deduction.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has never before accepted a TP scheme with such a little land deduction. In a town planning scheme, the civic body is required by law to subtract 40% of the total TP area for roads, public utilities, and other infrastructure.

According to sources, the land deduction from TP Scheme 32 was originally set to be 40%, but at the last minute, it was cut to 25%.

According to sources, if the land reduction had been carried out at a 40% rate, AMC would have received 91.60 hectares of land in TP scheme 32, which is distributed throughout 228.99 hectares. Now, the AMC will lose 34.35 hectares of land due to a 25% deduction. If estimated at the local land rate of Rs 50,000 per square metre, this results in a revenue loss of nearly Rs 17,000 million.
