In a positive development for the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), the housing and urban development department has officially requested the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) to grant an exemption from registration fees for an affordable housing project located in Ghatikia. Director (Housing) Debasish Singh, in a letter addressed to the Chairman of ORERA, stated that the BDA has already submitted the necessary application along with all required documents seeking exemption from both registration and late registration fees for the said project. Singh mentioned that during a meeting held in April of the previous year, the principal secretary in the housing and urban development department had recommended ORERA to consider waiving the registration fees for this particular project. Singh emphasised the significance of the affordable housing project in Ghatikia, designed for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers and economically weaker sections. He urged the ORERA chairman to facilitate the registration process for this project with zero fees, and he also requested modifications to the ORERA portal for real estate project registration to ensure the seamless execution of affordable housing projects by the BDA.
