Central Vista gets Rs 2600 cr for developing non-residential office

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been provided Rs 2,600 crore in Budget 2022-23 to develop non-residential office buildings of the Central Vista project, comprising the Parliament and Supreme Court.

It is Rs 767.56 crore as against Rs 1,833.43 crore allocated in the past fiscal. The redevelopment project of the Central Vista, the country's power corridor, envisions a new triangular Parliament building, a common central secretariat, redeveloping of the 3 km Rajpath boulevard that extends from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, a new prime minister's residence and a new Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and a new Vice President's Enclave.

A sum of Rs 2,600.99 has been allotted for non-residential office buildings' development, incorporating the Parliament and Supreme Court of India. For residential objectives, the ministry has been provided Rs 873.02 crore.

Six infrastructure companies, comprising Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Limited, Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited and Tata Projects Limited, are in the race to win the agreement to create the Executive Enclave, which will accommodate the Cabinet Secretariat, National Security Council Secretariat, new PMO and India House.

As per the proposed plan, the Executive Enclave will come up on the south side of the South Block in plot number 36/38 in the high-security zone in Lutyens' Delhi.

Last year, Larsen & Toubro Limited had been granted the deal for the development and maintenance of the first three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat.

Tata Projects Limited is developing a new parliament building while Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited is implementing the redevelopment work of the Central Vista Avenue stretching from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the India Gate under the Central Vista redevelopment project. In November 2021, Jharkhand-based infrastructure company Kamladityya Construction Pvt Ltd had been granted the contract for developing a Vice-President's Enclave.
