Chandigarh estate office all set to go online

After over one-and-a-half-year efforts, the Chandigarh estate office is ready to go online.

Chandigarh administrator Banwarilal Purohit will launch the project on Tuesday, which will include about 40,000 core residents and commercial units of the city, covering showrooms, houses, SCFs, SCOs, shops, among others.

With this, many services of the estate office, such as property transfer, sale, no-objection certificates (NOC), registration, mutation, and updated building plan permission, can be availed at a click.

Additionally, the necessary documents can be uploaded, and payments made online.

An official told the media that they have made a database of all the properties coming under the jurisdiction of the estate office. All property records will be available online, comprising changes in them and their transfer, among others.

The dedicated staff of the estate office has been employed for the project. The move will guarantee residents no longer have to visit the office and work delay is decreased.

The estate office has partnered with the State Bank of India (SBI) for online payment for its various services. It collects ground rent or lease money from commercial properties and industries, charges money for growing FAR (floor area ratio), building branch and penalty charges, among others. Yearly, it gets about Rs 90 crore to Rs 100 crore.
