The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) applied for environmental approval for the IT Park general housing scheme. Recently, the urban planning and engineering departments of the UT administration had sanctioned the plan to build 728 apartments in about 16.6 acres of land in two pockets at Rs 643 crore. The board鈥檚 chief executive officer (CEO), Yashpal Garg, told the media that after getting the fire no-objection certificate (NOC) from the municipal corporation (MC), the board has applied for environmental approval for the project. The board has obtained structure, electrical, public health, town planning and architectural related permissions from the departments. All these points were evaluated by the urban planning and engineering departments.The scheme was sanctioned by the board of directors of the CHB in December 2020. Although the exact prices of flats are yet to be decided, the tentative cost ranges between Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 2.75 crore. The project land is part of 123 acres that CHB got back from Parsvnath Developers after a long-drawn legal battle. Former UT administrator VP Singh Badnore had approved its design in July last year but due to the pandemic, the project could not get launched. The project report was placed before the board of directors in its meeting in December 2020, who in principle sanctioned the scheme. As per the information, the CHB would set the project on two plots, measuring 10.51 and 6.43 acres. In all, there would be 728 apartments of three types (4, 3 and 2 BHK) in seven-storey towers. The towers would have two basements with the requirement of parking of two cars for each flat in addition to surface parking for visitors.
