Cuda to develop a new layout on site-sharing basis

Chamarajanagar Urban Development Authority (Cuda) undertakes a project to develop a new layout on a site-sharing basis. Cuda has recognised 14.24 acres of land at Jalahallihundi on Santhemarahalli Road for the project.

The state government has approved the development of the new layout with modern facilities on a 50:50 partnership basis. It comes amid an unsuccessful attempt by its counterpart in Mysuru. Cuda will undertake the project once the technical design of the new layout is prepared.

Cuda commissioner Dr M S Pankaja told the media that a decision to this effect was taken at the recently held general meeting. The state government has given its approval to develop this new layout, she confirmed.

As several private players are creating new layouts, distributing several measures of sites to buyers without giving much significance to guarantee basic amenities such as underground drainage, street lights and power connections, the urban development body has planned to create this layout on a partnership basis.

Cuda has additionally received a lot of complaints regarding private land developers developing new layouts without leaving space for parks and other civic facilities flouting the urban development norms. Cuda has started the project as many buyers, who had purchased sites from such private players are presently moving from pillars to posts to get e-property documents. Cuda chairman Kulagana Shanthamurthy P B told the media that the district headquarters Chamarajanagar is still lacking basic facilities even after 25 years of its construction.
