DDA may launch new scheme for 23,000 flats in June

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is expected to launch a new housing scheme for 23,000 flats in June. The scheme is likely to offer flats for middle-class and low-income groups.

The majority of the flats in the new DDA housing scheme will be located near the Narela sub-city. The flats will be sold at a subsidized price and allocated through a computerized draw of lots. The scheme is expected to be launched in June 2023.

The DDA is taking steps to improve the saleability of the new flats. These include improving transportation infrastructure, allowing people to amalgamate flats, and allotting flats on a first-come-first-served basis.

The scheme was originally planned to be launched in May 2023, but the DDA meeting was postponed. The scheme is now expected to be launched in June.

The DDA will not put all 23,000 flats up for sale at once. They will be released in phases, after the market's reaction has been studied. The housing policy will also be changed, most likely in mid-June.

The eligibility criteria for the scheme has been relaxed. People who own a plot or flat in Delhi with an area of less than 67 square meters can now apply. Previously, people who owned any property, regardless of size, were not eligible to apply.

To avoid confusion, the DDA will put the sale of units under the old housing scheme on hold for one or two months. There are around 16,000 units under the old housing scheme.
