An initiative to check the expansion of the illegal colonies and impose heavy penalties on the builders, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has furnished recovery notices to 74 builders to recover the cost suffered in the demolition of the illegal colonies. According to the notices, amounting to Rs 15 lakh was taken under section 10(3) of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act 1975. The administration says if the builders fail to deposit the fine, the amount gets retrieved as dues of land revenue. RS Batth, the district town planner said, these builders who developed illegal colonies and structures have misled many genuine homebuyers and investors. Additionally, he said, in the past four months, the enforcement team demolished many buildings in about 74 illegal colonies. The sector suffered from the cost of earthmoving, videography, vehicles, workforce, and others during the demolition process. The officer of the director DTCP has issued strict directions to the enforcement team to recover the cost suffered during the demolition drives, Batth said. Another officer informs, notices will be given to the builders of these illegal colonies, which were demolished in the last and half years and recovery of the cost will be taken from them. The builders constructed illegal colonies on the agricultural area without permission from the relevant department. This act is against the laws of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975.
