Goregaon Film City gets responses from firms for infra development

The Maharashtra government鈥檚 Goregaon Film City has received 17 responses from several firms two months after seeking applications from interested companies for developing and improving its core infrastructure.

In the last week of June, the Film City Corporation, known as Goregaon Film City, had floated an expression of interest (EOI) for developing post-production facilities, studios, outdoor locations and related infrastructure within the premises of the Film City via the public-private partnership model.

An official from the Cultural Department told the media that EOI was floated to ask suggestions from the interested firms from the film industry on the up-gradation of the Film City. They would take into account their ideas and enhance the film city with the industry鈥檚 new requirements.

In Phase I of the project, estimated to cost Rs 391 crore, the Film City Corporation aims to improve the studios and sound stages of international standards; post-production facilities like digital animation, sound mixing, visual effects and outdoor locations as part of core infrastructure.

Additionally, ancillary infrastructure like make-up rooms, office complex and air-conditioning would also be upgraded. Presently, the Film City has pre and post-production facilities, 90 make-up rooms, 44 outdoor shooting locations, 16 AC studios and permanent shooting locations, comprising a helipad, lake, temple and court.
