Greater Noida Authority holds cleanliness survey for housing societies

The Greater Noida Authority announces holding an internal, competitive cleanliness survey as a part of Swachh Survekshan. The residential societies, which are bulk waste generators, will get a prize worth Rs 2 lakh, with second and third positions Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, respectively.
The authority has invited applications from residential societies, which are generating bulk waste. The deadline to submit the applications is 10 December. The final result will be announced on 3 January.
CEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), Narendra Bhooshan, said that the Authority aims to make Greater Noida a smart city with waste management and environmental-friendly parameters. The Authority has initiated an internal competition among bulk waste generators to promote bulk waste management awareness.
According to an official, institutions can also submit their applications. Some of the parameters are monitoring waste segregation, the quantity of solid and liquid waste every day, waste collection, transformation and disposal, and sewage treatment plants (STPs).
According to a GNIDA official, Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2016 is applicable in Greater Noida. Under the rules, bulk waste generators will have to dispose of the garbage on their own.
He said that many societies come under bulk waste generators. To further boost waste management, the Authority will organise a cleanliness survey for bulk waste generators.
In the 2020 survey, 50 housing societies took part in the competition, and the Stellar Jeevan apartment complex won the first prize.
