Gujrera faces issues due to vacant posts

For the past month and a half, the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority has been without two of the required three members. As a result, no new RERA registration numbers have been issued.

Over 250 complaints are pending with the authority, and 150 new project files are awaiting approval.

Real estate developers are demanding that the state government appoint the RERA chairman and two members, even on an in-charge basis, so that the authority can continue to function normally.

Since November 2022, when Amarjit Singh retired, the position of GujRERA chairman has been vacant. Following that, RERA member D P Joshi retired, leaving the authority with only one member. Only the chairman and two RERA members have the authority to approve projects, according to the rules.

CREDAI Ahmedabad president Tejas Joshi said, 鈥淣o new project has been given a RERA registration number since mid- January because the authoriy does not have the full committee. We demand that the project approval process be started as soon as possible.鈥

Some 150 projects have completed all necessary processes but are still unable to open bookings due to a lack of registration numbers. This could have serious financial consequences for such developers.
