Life Mission scheme: Kerala govt allots 12,067 houses to beneficiaries

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan handed over 12,067 houses built under the LDF government鈥檚 Life Mission scheme, to beneficiaries across the state.
Vijayan told the media that the LDF government has kept its word to the people and promised to build five lakh houses in the next five years.
According to Vijayan, the state government built 12,067 houses as part of its 100-day programme.
He added that 10,058 of these homes were constructed as part of the Life Mission and other local self-government body schemes in the state, while 2,009 were built as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY) urban project.
There are 7,832 houses for the homeless in general communities, 3,964 houses for SC/ST beneficiaries, and 271 houses for the homeless in fishermen communities.
According to the CM, 2,62,131 houses have been built in the last five years, with a total investment of Rs 8,903 crore, which includes state funds, central funds, local government shares, and Housing and Urban Development Corporation(HUDCO) loans.
Vijayan cited that 2,207 houses are being built in 36 housing complexes, with 17 more complexes set to begin construction soon.
During an online event, the CM said that the state government intends to build 5 lakh houses over the next five years. He announced that the government targets to convert the state of Kerala into a landless and homeless-free state.
