Mazagan First in Morocco to Earn EarthCheck GOLD Certification

Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort has become the first tourism establishment in Morocco to receive the EarthCheck GOLD Certification. The recognition follows four consecutive years of SILVER status and affirms the resort鈥檚 commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism.
鈥淭his is a defining milestone that reflects years of effort and investment in building a forward-thinking, sustainable hospitality model,鈥 said Jacques Claudel, General Manager. 鈥淲e are proud to align luxury with environmental and social integrity.鈥
Mazagan鈥檚 sustainability practices include a wastewater treatment plant operational since 2009, enabling treated water reuse for irrigation. The resort also uses drip irrigation and smart networks to minimise water waste. Organic waste is converted into compost, while a robust waste sorting system and a gradual phase-out of single-use plastics support a circular economy.
The resort is adopting energy-efficient lighting and exploring renewable energy integration. Socially, the Mazagan Academy trains local youth for certified hospitality careers. The resort also supports regional producers and shortens supply chains to boost the local economy.
Mazagan now sets its sights on EarthCheck PLATINUM, reinforcing its position as a sustainability pioneer in Moroccan tourism.
