Six infrastructure firms including Tata Projects Limited and L&T Limited, have submitted technical bids to build the executive enclave, which will house the prime minister's office (PMO), Cabinet secretariat, India House, and National Security Council Secretariat, according to an official.
Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited, NCC Limited, PSP Projects Limited, and Ahluwalia Contracts India Limited are the other four companies.
The documents submitted by these six construction firms are being reviewed for their eligibility to participate in the financial bids, according to the official.
The project, which is being carried out under the Narendra Modi government's ambitious Central Vista redevelopment plan, is expected to be completed in 24 months for Rs 1,171 crore, according to the CPWD's bid document.
The Executive Enclave will be built on the south side of the South Block in plots number 36 and 38 in the high-security zone in Lutyens' Delhi, according to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which is part of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The new PMO will have three floors, each 4.75 m high, in addition to the basement and ground floor, according to the bid document. A similar structure will be used for the new Cabinet Secretariat and the National Security Council Secretariat.
The India House, which will have one floor in addition to the basement and ground floor, is expected to be used as a conference centre, similar to the Hyderabad House, where high-level talks, particularly with visiting leaders from various countries, are currently held.
Larsen and Toubro Limited were awarded the contract for the construction and maintenance of the Common Central Secretariat's first three buildings last month.
Under the Central Vista redevelopment project, Tata Projects Limited is building a new parliament building, while Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited are redeveloping Central Vista Avenue from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.
The Central Vista, the nation's power corridor, will be redeveloped with a new parliament building, a common central secretariat, a revamped 3 km Rajpath from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the India Gate, a new prime minister's office and residence, and a new vice-president enclave.
