TDI Faces Notices Over Land Violations

The Haryana town planning authorities have issued show cause notices to TDI Group for alleged land use violations in its township project in Panipat. The accusations include illegal sales of undetermined lands (UD lands) and green areas like parks, which contravene established town planning guidelines.

District Town Planner Sunil Antil confirmed that the enforcement wing was alerted through complaints, prompting the issuance of the notices. Activist Jogender Swami played a key role in exposing the alleged violations, claiming that these illicit transactions have caused significant financial losses to the state. Swami has also filed complaints with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, alleging undervalued land sales to evade levies such as stamp duty, further compounding the revenue loss.

TDI Group has acknowledged the issue and stated that it is conducting internal investigations to identify employees involved in the illegal transactions. The company claims to have canceled some sale deeds and lodged complaints with the police to address the misconduct.

This incident underscores the importance of stringent regulatory oversight in real estate projects to prevent misuse of land and ensure compliance with planning norms. As the investigation progresses, it raises broader concerns about transparency and accountability in the real estate sector.
