VGTMUDA hires consultants for master plan

The Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTMUDA) roped in Aarvee consultants to prepare master plan for the extended region using satellite images.

The authority is seeking approval from the state government for the appointment of consultants. In the next 24 months, the authority expects the consultants to prepare the plan.

The government expanded the UDA limits upto Ponnur, Sattenapalli, Amaravati in Guntur district and Nuzvid, Nandigama, Gudivada and Pamarru in Krishna district.

In 1978, the UDA was formed with a jurisdiction covering only 1,954 sq km. In the course of time, the jurisdiction of the UDA expanded to 7,060 square km spread over two districts.

As many as 494 villages in Krishna district and 326 villages in Guntur district fall under UDA limits. Nandigama and Vuyyur Nagara Panchayats, Gudivada and Nuzvid municipality of Krishna district and Sattenapalli and Ponnur municipalities of Guntur district were brought under the UDA limits.

It may be recalled that the state government had issued a GO more than a year ago expanding the horizons of the UDA.
