Tripura Hosts AI Workshop to Boost Good Governance

In a push to mainstream Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public service delivery, the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), held a capacity-building workshop titled 鈥淎I for Good Governance: Driving Transparency, Efficiency & Impact鈥� at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala, on 16 May 2025.

Part of the NeGD鈥檚 Capacity Building initiative, the workshop drew participation from over 150 government officials across departments, aimed at enhancing understanding and adoption of AI tools for governance.

Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, delivered the welcome address, highlighting AI鈥檚 transformative role in data-driven decision-making, improved service delivery, and administrative efficiency. He reaffirmed Tripura鈥檚 commitment to fostering a citizen-centric, innovation-led governance model.

Chief Secretary Shri Jitendra Kumar Sinha, IAS, spotlighted Tripura鈥檚 notable e-governance achievements such as eOffice, eCabinet, and the Beneficiary Management System. He stressed the need to institutionalise capacity-building initiatives and promote the ethical use of AI in the public sector.

The workshop included four technical sessions led by experts from NeGD and IndiaAI, focusing on:
1. Foundations and Risk Mitigation in AI/ML
2. AI Adoption for Enhanced Governance
3. AI Tools for Smarter Public Administration
4. Building Robust AI Infrastructure

Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS, Director of IT, Government of Tripura, delivered the Vote of Thanks, noting the workshop鈥檚 relevance in shaping Tripura鈥檚 digital future.

This initiative is part of MeitY鈥檚 broader IndiaAI Mission and supports NeGD鈥檚 goal of empowering state governments through hands-on AI training and policy support. The programme aims to foster an inclusive, ethical, and future-ready AI ecosystem tailored to Tripura鈥檚 public administration needs.
