In a significant boost to global scientific ties, Markus S枚der, Minister-President of Bavaria, met India鈥檚 Union Minister for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, on April 13, 2025. The meeting reinforced Indo-German cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), with focus areas including Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technologies, Clean Energy, Electric Mobility, Green Hydrogen, and Biotechnology.
Dr. Singh praised the Indo-German 2+2 collaboration model, which brings together universities and industries from both nations for innovation-driven partnerships. He recalled the Golden Jubilee of Indo-German S&T cooperation and cited shared intellectual heritage, referencing Max Mueller鈥檚 translations of Indian scriptures.
India鈥檚 rise in biotech was underscored with over 3,000 startups and its position as the world鈥檚 largest vaccine producer. The new BIOe3 policy, emphasizing Energy, Economy, and Employment, was also highlighted. Singh pointed to India鈥檚 advancements in Space-Tech, Nuclear energy, and its global startup ranking鈥�3rd in number of unicorns.
He stressed stronger academic ties, noting over 50,000 Indian students in German universities and encouraging more German students to study Indian culture and sciences.
The German delegation included Ambassador Dr. Philipp Ackermann, while top Indian officials from DST and DBT participated in the meeting.
