Ushering in a new era of green transit, the Delhi Government has introduced the DEVi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange), a fleet of modern, eco-friendly buses expertly built by India's leading electric bus maker, PMI Electro Mobility.
During launch of Delhi Government’s DEVi electric bus initiative, a fleet of 255 fully electric, 9-meter PMI buses was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Rekha Gupta, in the presence of Shri Harsh Malhotra, Hon’ble Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, Shri Pankaj Singh, Hon’ble Minister, Health & Family Welfare, Transport, Information Technology and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister, Education, GOI, along with Hon’ble MPs of Delhi & Cabinet Ministers of GNCTD.
This deployment marks a significant step in Delhi’s Government’s ambitious plan to introduce 2,080 (9 Meter) electric neighbourhood buses between 2025 and 2026, as part of the city’s broader vision to transition 80% of the city’s public transport fleet to electric vehicles. Under this initiative, a total of 1,456 (9 Meter) PMI Electro Mobility buses will be deployed, each thoughtfully engineered for comfort, accessibility, and sustainability, ensuring an improved commuting experience while supporting the capital’s shift toward a cleaner, greener future.
Each of 255 (9 Meter) DEVi electric bus is proudly build by PMI Electro, prioritising passenger comfort and safety. The 23-seat configuration includes six pink seats reserved for women, a dedicated wheelchair space with automated ramps, and a low-floor design with a “kneeling mechanism to assist elderly and differently-abled passengers. Along with advanced features such as real-time diagnostics, automatic passenger counting, and air suspension to ensure efficient operations across Delhi’s bustling neighborhoods. The buses will operate from depots at Kushak Nallah and East Vinod Nagar, strategically located to serve high-demand areas.
In line with PMI’s strong commitment to gender inclusivity, the DEVi fleet also includes women drivers a progressive step towards creating more opportunities for women in India’s green mobility ecosystem.
Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO, PMI Electro Mobility, highlighted the significance of the DEVi initiative, saying, “As a Delhi resident, it is a matter of great pride for me to contribute to our city’s sustainable future. At PMI, we remain ever-committed towards propelling the nation towards a cleaner future and a more environmentally conscious public transport system. The DEVi project is a natural extension of this resolve, and we are consistently working to make electric mobility accessible, reliable, and inclusive.
