Indian Air Force nods handover of 13 acre land for Lohegaon airport

Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and the Chairman of Infrastructure Committee of the central government announced that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has approved the handover of 13-acres of land for Lohegaon airport.

It was a long pending issue for the Lohegaon airport. During the first phase of development, several works were completed, but IAF was not ready to hand over the land. Recently, IAF submitted the approval to hand over 13 acres of land at Chandigarh. In a meeting, Gadkari asked the IAF that the Ministry would give land at Chandigarh, and in return, IAF should hand over the land parcel at Pune.

He said that since he is the Chairman of the infrastructure projects, the proposal would be placed before him. IAF agrees to hand over 13-acre land in Pune and take land at Chandigarh. The process would start soon after getting approval from the officials.

He added that the 13-acres of land would double the capacity of Pune airport.

Gadkari appealed to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to help in setting up a New Pune on the Pune-Bengaluru expressway. He said that the Maharashtra government and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) could do the project jointly.

Gadkari said that new land could be purchased along the expressway to establish New Pune. Pune metro connectivity and other transportation can be connected to New Pune with the existing Pune for sustainable development.
