Capital division begins road maintenance at Ganga-Papunallah road

The PWD Capital Division 'B' has commenced maintenance work on Tuesday on the Ganga-Papunallah road via Jullang, which has been in a dilapidated condition for the past year.

Techi Nabo, the executive engineer of the division, informed that the department is deeply concerned about the current state of the road. They have instructed the construction agency to fill all potholes and level out any uneven surfaces to ensure a smooth road for commuters.

Due to frequent showers, the process of filling potholes may take a few days or even weeks. However, he assured that the inconvenience caused to commuters will be addressed.

Nabo further shared that the state government has approved and sanctioned the construction of a bypass road from NH-415 at Chimpu to NH-415 at Papu Nalah via Jullang, with an estimated cost of Rs 5088.00 lakh during the financial year 2022-23. The project includes upgrading the existing flexible pavement to a double-lane standard, constructing CC pavement, and building a retaining wall for enhanced durability.

The tender for the project has been issued, along with administrative approval. After completing all necessary formalities and obtaining government approval, the contract was awarded to Nigla Infrastructure and Power Projects.

The designated executing agency is committed to completing the road construction within the specified timeframe, by March 2025. The executive engineer added that if the weather permits, it might even be finished ahead of schedule.

The PWD urges all commuters in Jullang to bear with the inconvenience during this phase and to cooperate for the speedy completion of the construction.
