Govt to buy land from villages across Kanpur for ring road project

The centre will acquire 670 hectares of land from 273 villages across Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar and Unnao districts.

The villages for the land are already identified, and the officials began a survey that is most probably going to be completed in 15 days. After that, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Transport will appoint recommended authorities, brief the project and then send the proposal to the state government for obtaining the land.

According to the process, after the state government approves, the NHAI and the Ministry of Transport will release a declaration of land acquisition. The recommended authorities will come into action in August.

After the Divisional Commissioner asked to survey the villages that are to be acquired for the offered Ring Road, the team completed the survey of 48 km distance so far. A member of the survey committee, Neeraj Srivastava, told the media that as indicated by the ring road map, as many as 21 villages of Kanpur Dehat, 80 villages of Kanpur Nagar Unnao District and 173 villages of Kanpur Nagar will be obtained.

As Per the sources in the district administration, the survey would decide how much land should be acquired from the respective villages and how many farmers would be affected. It is expected that an amount of around Rs 3000 crore be provided to the farmers as compensation for obtaining their land, which is around 670 acres.
