NHAI to buy Sindhi dry port in Wardha district

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will purchase the Sindhi dry port in Wardha district, as Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced. The port will be developed into a logistic park that will offer import and export facilities.

The government planned to develop two such dry ports in Wardha and Jalna to improve connectivity with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai from the hinterlands of Vidarbha and Marathwada and to facilitate export-import trades. The Sindhi port is expected to provide direct employment to over a thousand people spread over 346 acres.

The minister called the locals to develop the Vena river into a tourist spot by building a riverfront and starting water taxi services there briefing about the Nag river project. He told the media that it must have boating facilities and food courts to attract tourists and that there is no need to destroy houses for the Jamtha bypass.

Gadkari said he would request the NHAI contractor to excavate its silt for free and use it for road construction, responding to local leaders' demand for deepening the Vena river in Hinganghat.

The two-time MP told the media that the alignment of the new flyover was wrong as it divided Hinganghat into two parts while lauding it. Additionally, he said that ideally, any flyover is planned so that it shouldn't come into the city for 15-20 years. Due to it, a black spot was created at some distance, and therefore, he immediately asked NHAI officials to design a new flyover to prevent accidents.
